OLAJUMOKE ORISAGUNA—7 HIDDEN FACTS YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT HER SUDDEN TURN FROM AN AGEGE BREAD SELLER TO A MODEL OVERNIGHT!
Let me start by praying for you: May the good God of
#Olajumoke Remember you and yours and cause your paths to collide with destiny.
It is obvious that when it is your time things will turn to your favour, nature
will orchestrate happenstance-call it coincidence-in your favour. This is the
life we are in, where a nobody will suddenly become somebody that everybody
will want to relate with and celebrate.
Miracles do happen. Yes, they do! It is a miracle, if
it is not expected from expected corners, if it is not planned, if it is not
normal, if it is foolish and unimaginable, if you were consider for an
underserving position! Like @Tybellotweets would put it while working on the
photoshot “I’ll never forget that It all started with this woman here @zukiliciouz saying .. Imagine if Olajumoke was the next style cover…It
sounded so out of our reach at the time but that statement fanned it into flame
for sure…”
The story of the 27 years old Olajumoke Orisaguna is
an inspirational one, nay, a masterpiece motivation mover! Her inspiring story
has surely moved Nigerians. Little wonder, everybody is blogging about it just
as I just did! Afterall, the purpose of this blog is to inspire and invoke a
change in you and then propels you to take your life and make it what you want
it to be.
Below are probably things you didn’t know about
Olajumoke “The Agege Bread Seller cum Model and a celebrity of Steel”
1. She is an Agege Bread
seller, NOT a Model.
She is a Bread Hawker from Sabo market bakery who was
fortunate to coincidentally walk into a Tybello team street photo-shoot for
Thisday Style Magazine.
According to TyBello, while they were preparing for
their shoots, she walked entirely unto their set and stood amidst the
photo-shoot a little confused. In spite of some observers around telling her to
leave the photo scene, she stood there with her bread on her head in awe.
“Then, I signalled if it was ok to take photograph and she agreed and I pressed
on my shutter so she could move ahead. My main subject of interest was the
Okada driver that had slowed down just before she arrived. Okada riders have
that cool Lagos vibe and always happen to add a bit of swag to street
portraits”
Sometimes, we may not be the focus but when God is the
one leading us, men will choose us over the other, we will be most preferred to
be enlisted amongst those that matters most.
2. She is Married.
Eya, unfortunately the 27year old is taken. Jumoke is
happily married to a sliding-door
installer and they have two children together.
At 27, she is
already married with 2 kids, one 5years old probably in school and the other 14
months old.
This is a
pointer that she is more serious with her life than succumbing to the idea that
she need to flirt around before settling down in marriage. For you young girls
out there that are jumping from one man to the other because you think those
men are not “rich” enough to date you, continue. God is watching you; your
night is getting near!
3. She and her husband
are hustlers….they don’t stay together
In the words of the, Thisday Style Magazine Editor,
Azuka, in is response to the misconceived idea that Jumoke’s husband resurfaced
finally when fortune has finally beckoned, he said Jumoke was residing in Lagos
with their two kids while her hubby was based in Osun…all in a bid to make ends
meat...Jumoke and her husband just sought fortune from different lands, They
needed to be on the street of ‘Hustle n Bustle’ so they decided to till
different grounds- one in Osun, the other in Lagos.
One thing I observed is, she is not lazy neither is
her husband. She is not like those full lazy-around-house-wives who only stay
at house and wait for their husband to bring in money of “survival”. She is a
responsible person. Are your responsible for your life?
4. She was a Trained
Hairdresser back in Ire, Osun State
This is what
lack and poverty can do; it makes you look as though you lack skill BUT no, the
lack of money and relevant resources can hinder one from reaching their full
potential.
Due to the
fact that her family could not afford the necessary ‘freedom ceremony’- a
passing out ritual that gives a trainee an unwritten permission to branch out
and go solo, she needed to relocate to Lagos with her 14 months old daughter to
give bread hawking a try, leaving her husband and her older 5 years old behind
in Osun.
Beyond
education, it is good for one to be empowered in a way. Your handwork—what you
can do with your hands can go a long way to help your adaptation for survival
in the face of glaring joblessness and unemployment. I encourage you to learn a
hand work today. It is a survival tool.
5. Jumoke could barely
speak English Language
When she was interrogated, she could barely reply in
English Language, she had to respond in her native Yoruba language “Aso kan na
ni mo wo kiri Lana…”, “When I was hawking yesterday, in fact, this was the same
cloth I wore yesterday when the person saw me. He called me and said “He saw me
on facebook and that is this me? I said yes. He asked me if I know madam’s
house in which I replied no. He now said I should come today…” She said all
these in Yoruba.
When @emaedosio, the maker of the short documentary
about the whole process, asked her what she wanted to do, she also reply in
Yoruba thus “Ka ma kiri Buredi kan sumon” she explained that Bread hawking
wasn’t the most profitable business there is for her but it put food on her
table, and that it also put a roof over her head. Howbeit, a roof she shared
with scores of other hawkers.
The fact that you are not tushed doesn’t exempt you
from favour from God and men. When God orders your step, irrespective on your
disposition and the way you speak, men will still have to dance to your tone.
It is not what language we speak and how fluent we speak them but the God
speaking for us. Jumoke has collided her divine moments, the least that would
happen is for her to fly!
6. She is on her way to
become an intern and a celebrated model-in-transit!
Though her
success story and sudden come to limelight is accidental, it is nothing far
from a miracle, nay, a divine orchestration.
Jumoke is on
her way to become an intern at Make-me Hair Salon and has been offered an
additional internship with Sari Signature, a famous Lebanese owned Salon on the
island.
A nobody from
nowhere, suddenly everyone what to be part of her success story by reaching
forth to uplift her without her consent! Off course, she will consent in joyful
outburst—her dream of becoming a professional hair dresser is gradually coming
to fruition.
According to
the narrative of TyBello Crew, “To pay Jumoke her model fee from her first job
in front of the camera, we called @_ujumarshall, one of Nigeria’s and matched
her fees. She is been offered a modelling contract with the help of @godsonukaegbu
from a @fewmodels. She is also had @payporte reach out to her to be model on
their next billboard campaign.
7. Jumoke has found
favour!
Yea, blessed hath thou o Jummy baby. How I wish you
are my sister.
Abi, how do you explain this, a bread hawker who
accidentally bumped into a photoshot could have just been cropped out of the
photo with the help of photoshop. But no, she fit into the whole package and
made the cover of the Thisday magazine a hit such that they were all in search of
her all over the internet and offline until she was found.
Favour is indeed a locator. Today, her story has
changed from a hopeless and helpless young woman whose future looks so bleak to
a woman whose future is promising and predictable. Her husband will soon be
called “The husband of the former Agege Bread seller now a Model and a
Fashionista”.
When God changes a man’s stature, He changes his name
altogether.
May our life experience such turnaround as this that
will provoke a testimony that will motivate and encourage others to believe God
is no respecter of persons regardless of exposures or literacy level.
Let me just stop here.
I want to hear your own comments too. And kindly help
me share this to inspiring others.
